Mr. Alfred H. Barr, Jr.
The Museum of Modern Art,
New York.
In 1936 I send you, at your kind request, some photographs of my paintings. Thinking that it might possibly be of interest to you, I am sending you photographs of some of my new works and also some of my wife’s paintings.
She is an American and paints under the name of E. Thoresen.
As we intend to come to U.S.A. in the near future, my wife would like to come in contact with some artist organisation or group with whom she could exhibit som of her paintings.
Therefore I take the liberty of asking if you would be so very kind as to give me some information about or names of such groups in which she could seek to be a member. She has earlier, among other exhibitions, partaken in the International Surrealist Exhibition in Paris 1938 at gallery Beaux-Arts, and has a reproduction in the “Dictionaire Abrégé du Surrealisme” Paris 1938 and in “Plastique” Paris 1938 nr. 3 (American number.)
We would be very thankful and happy to hear from you in regard to this
I am, sincerely yours
Vilh. Bjerke-Petersen
